Hot Excerpt from a Hot Serial! Her Keeper 2~ Helen Karol
Helen Karol was nice enough to share an excerpt from her new edition of her serial Her Keeper.
I read part one and let me just tell you, wow! Rick and Sara have so much chemistry I'm surprised my Kindle didn't melt!! I'm looking forward to seeing what's going on with them and judging by what Helen sent over I will not be disappointed. I won't take up anymore time, go ahead and read her juicy excerpt!
Excerpt - Immediate
Discipline!
Rick has left Sara
in his office while he goes to the courthouse to deal with the
warrant against her. During that time Audra, the foster child they
helped last year, turns up in an hysterical state after running away
from her foster home. As a county prosecutor Sara has to advise her
not to give her any evidence as she cannot act as her advocate.
Audra is so distressed Sara decides to write an email quitting
immediately so she can act for her, even though Rick has told her not
to do anything without his permission
*************
My palms sweat and I
grow hot remembering Rick’s hard-edged tone out in the back lot.
From
now on you will do exactly as I say and only what I say. I
cross over to the small office. You
will not even breathe without my permission.
I take a deep breath and boot up the PC. No
words, no movements… I
push his words away. This doesn’t count. I’m doing what he
wants. Nodding to myself, I sit down and enter the user name and
password for my county account. It takes only a few minutes to
compose the email. I’m checking it through with the intention of
hitting send when I feel his presence at my shoulder.
With a low growl of
fury, he reaches over me and hits delete. “Damn it, Sara! Can’t
you stay obedient for even half an hour?”
I turn on him, just
as furious. “What’d you do that for? It’s my resignation. I
am
being obedient! You want me to quit.”
Rick is practically
tearing his hair out with exasperation. Behind him, Lisa, Sheriff
Thomas, Tim Hunt, and Deputy Turner all look on with varying degrees
of response. Sheriff Thomas and Tim Hunt are unsuccessfully trying
to hide a mixture of resignation and amusement at the familiar sight
of Rick and me going at. Deputy Turner, unfamiliar with this sight,
looks terrified.
It’s Lisa’s
reaction that surprises me. She’s almost as exasperated as Rick.
“Rick and I have just spent an extremely unpleasant, far too heated
time over at the courthouse with Jim Madison deliberately fighting
against your resignation so we can use it as a bargaining chip! You
could’ve really screwed things up with that email. If he knew you
actually want
to resign we’d lose all our hard work and you’d be in a lot more
trouble. He’s being a real prick over this, Sara. Can’t you at
least talk to us before you go off half-cocked!”
I turn white,
feeling like an idiot. I’d be furious with a client I’d told to
sit tight while I brokered them a deal if they did this. No wonder
they're both mad. I drop my head in shame, robbed of a response. I
gulp when out of the corner of my eye, I see Rick roll up his sleeve.
Any
misbehavior will be dealt with immediately and I won’t care where
we are or who’s watching.
Oh Fuck. I look
around. There’s nowhere for me to run. I’m trapped in this tiny
office. My heartbeat goes into overtime, humiliation engulfing me at
the certain knowledge that I’m about to be turned across Rick’s
knee in front of them all.
I almost pass out
with gratitude when he turns and tells them. “Shows over. Give us
some space.” Obeying him they disperse.
My gratitude quickly
disappears, replaced with gulping fear at Rick’s furious glower as
he steps in and closes the door and locks it. True to his promise of
immediate action, he takes my arm, turns me sideways, hikes up my
dress, and whips down my panties. Already emotional, I’m in floods
of tears after only two furious spanks. He continues on and on, his
hard hand whipping up against my jiggling globes, relentlessly. I
dance around on the spot while he dishes out his discipline, hopping
and howling in my stocking feet like a little girl receiving her well
deserved comeuppance. I want to beg him to stop, but I know I’ve
got it coming so I just sob my apologies instead.
My
ass is blazing and I’m sobbing like a baby when he stops abruptly,
sits on the edge of the desk, and pulls me into his arms. “Sara,
honey. When are you going to let me take care of you? Trust me?
Obey me? You agreed to that this weekend, remember? Is what I ask
of you really so hard?”
************
Her
Keeper 2: In His Custody Part 2
The
warrant reignites Rick and Sara's feud and may damage their weekend
deal. Can Rick assert his authority enough to convince Sara to trust
him or is the battle on again? And will that dress that Sara wore to
tease Rick arouse his fantasies so much that she ends up with a lot
more than she bargained for?
Sara is drawn to the teenage girl who needs her protection, while Luke's murder investigations unearth information that worries Rick about Sara's safety. Keeping her close becomes imperative.
Join Rick and Sara as their sizzling romance grows even hotter!

A Belt Wielding Alpha~ A Brush of Violet, by Corinne Alexander
It is an honor to have my friend, Corinne Alexander, over on my blog today. She has her debut spanking romance out- the newest from the Corbin's Bend Series- called A Brush of Violet.
She was kind enough to bring over an excerpt, so I won't take up anymore time, I will just let the writing speak for itself!
He led her over to the clubhouse to the room he had mentioned the day before, the one that needed a special key to enter.
She was kind enough to bring over an excerpt, so I won't take up anymore time, I will just let the writing speak for itself!
He led her over to the clubhouse to the room he had mentioned the day before, the one that needed a special key to enter.
He led
her into the dimly lit room. The first thing she noticed was that the
soundproof padding she was expecting to see on the walls was
completely concealed behind tasteful paneling. The room was warm and
inviting, yet there was a distinct air of being strictly serviceable
too. Along one side of the room sat several chairs that looked like
might be for observers as there were about four in a row. There was
also a straight back chair with no arms toward the center of the room
and an arm chair toward the wall. A couch sat against a far wall.
However,
what caught her attention was an apparatus in the right hand corner
of the room. It was a bench of sorts. The end facing toward the room
was just slightly lower than waist high. There was a padded bench
that laid flat and then angled down toward the floor. There were
cuffs around the legs of the front part of the bench and at the end
of the bench along a bar.
Charles
made his way toward a closet on the end of the room that the bench
was on. The sight that beheld her as he opened the closet door made
her gasp. There hanging on the wall behind the door was an array of
every implement that she could imagine awaiting a naughty bottom to
be applied to. There were floggers, belts, straps, paddles, and
canes. They were in every shape, size, and type of spanking implement
that there was. Violet shuddered in anticipation as she fingered a
long supple strap made of leather. There was something about leather
that made her knees go weak, but it was the jingle of the belt as it
was unbuckled, the whir of air as it slid through its loops, and the
crack of the leather against bare flesh that always got her. There
was something deliciously alpha about a man who wielded a belt.
High powered
business woman, Violet Walker, has long left her artistic days
behind. That is until her best friend, Everleigh Harris, invites her
to Corbin's Bend for an art festival. What Everleigh doesn't know is
that Violet hasn't been able to paint a single brush stroke since
turning her back on her submissive desires and spanking needs in
college. When she meets charismatic and drop dead gorgeous Charles
her world is turned completely upside down. Will Violet, overworked,
burnt out, and in denial of her deepest wants and desires, be able to
surrender when love knocks on her door?
Charles
Robinson, President of the discipline Board in Corbin’s Bend and
longtime resident, adores the community he lives in and the freedom
it provides for all who live there. Raised in a traditional family;
love and discipline are a way of life for him. There’s nothing he
wants more than a marriage just like his parents where spanking and
romance go hand in hand, even if that means holding out for true
love. Is Violet just the kind of woman he’s looking for?
Will Violet
risk the life she’s built for herself in blood, sweat, and tears
for the undeniable connection she has with Charles, the utter bliss
and contentment she feels when she’s over his lap? Can Charles
convince Violet she really can have it all? Will this trip be just
what she needs to rekindle all that she has lost since joining the
corporate world?

Food Love~ The Relationship Between Food, Love, and Psychology?
I may have mentioned before that my fabulous husband formats all my books for me. He won't read them, but he formats them, so I guess he catches the stray word here and there.
He was formatting Call Me Yours for me and was like- Why the hell are you writing about meatballs? I just shook my head and laughed, it was one part and I thought it was weird he picked that up.
A little while later he goes- Mmm, bagels. We should get some bagels.
I look up, remembering that later in my book my character is eating a bagel.
I realized my characters eat a lot. More than the average author? I don't know. Perhaps I am just a food-centric individual.
I actually read a vampire series by Chloe Neill called Chicagoland Vampires. This is probably my favorite current book series and the main character in them is always eating and loves food. The author is constantly referencing local Chicago cuisine and favorite street food. So much so that it makes me hungry when I read them and it also makes me want to visit Chicago. (The eating is all between kick ass vampire fighting and sexual tension- but even vamps gotta eat.)
A lot of the foods in my books fall into the comfort food category. It would make sense when I am writing a romance novel about people falling in love that they would be sharing/cooking some comfort food dishes.
Cooking can be a very intimate experience to share together. Well, I view it as intimate because of the size of our kitchen. You can't open our refrigerator if someone is standing in front of the sink.
But the thing is- there is something about chopping up salad fixings at the counter while my husband cooks something at the stove beside me. It makes my heart smile, it makes me happy that we both appreciate each other enough to want to share a nice meal together.
Even if you aren't as much of a food lover as I am, the fact of the matter is, we need to eat! Anyone remember Psych 101?
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs? (I know, you're all like, I clicked this link to read about sex and now she's all talking about psychology- just stick with me a second.)
Eating is a physiological need that needs to be met before you can move up in the hierarchy and get to higher level stuff like social interactions- including and not limited to romantic relationships.
The whole tried and true typical date night scenario of dinner and a movie actually fulfills two levels of Maslow's Hierarchy. First, filling a physiological need of eating and then giving/getting safety from your date when you snuggle in close and hide your eyes during all the scary parts of the movie.
Maslow probably wasn't thinking about love and dating when he came up with his theory, but it still fits.
Also, in looking at this again (I had to reference something- it's been a while since college) don't think I failed to notice that sex is a full two levels below romantic relationships/intimacy.
Just some food for thought...

A Real Woodshed and A Forest Full of Switches~ Sue Lyndon's Her Old-Fashioned Doctor
I am thrilled to have Sue Lyndon over today with an excerpt from her new book Her Old-Fashioned Doctor which is available in the medical play boxed set What the Doctor Ordered.
I was reading books by Sue Lyndon before I ever dipped my toe in the author waters, so you can imagine my excitement to be featured in the same boxed set as her. There is a reason I am a fan of Sue Lyndon's writing- it's hot! Okay, there is more than one reason: she does write hot stuff, also her characters always seem real. Even if her book is set in the future or in the old west she writes about her characters in a way that you would not be surprised to walk out your front door and find them arguing in your driveway.
In her new book, John (the old-fashioned doctor) has just met Melissa, a pretty, rich girl on a road trip after she leaves her cheating fiance. In this scene he's trying to convince her to stay at his cabin longer- not many women would be swayed by the fact that he owns a woodshed... but I think Melissa is a girl after my own heart!
“I wish I had the whole day off so I could drive you all over, Melissa,” he said once they were back on the road.
“Yeah, me too,” she said. “I enjoyed meeting you and I appreciate all your help. Letting me crash at your place was really nice. And I’m thrilled that you didn’t turn out to be an ax murderer.”
His deep, smooth chuckle drew her in, and she couldn’t resist scooting closer to him as the truck hugged a sharp turn. Her fingers brushed against his thigh briefly, and electricity zipped through her arm and pierced straight to her inner core, inciting a throb between her legs. Her eyes went wide. She’d never wanted a man so badly before.
“I’m glad you didn’t drive off last night, Melissa. I liked spending time with you too.” He glanced at her, a conspiratorial gleam in his gaze. “You know, I have the entire weekend off. If you stayed a little longer, I could drive you farther up the mountains and deeper into the country for some even better pictures.”
Her heart thudded. “Really?”
“Really. And since we’ve already established that I’m not an ax murderer, there’s no reason for you to decline my invitation. In fact, you can stay longer than the weekend if you want.” The cabin came into sight and he drove down the long driveway. He parked his truck next to her car and shut off the engine, and the sudden silence heightened the air of tension in the cab.
“You really wouldn’t mind my staying a few days, even a week longer?” She’d said ‘week’ to test the waters. Pleasure filled his gaze and the hungry look in his eyes became ravenous. She tried to swallow but somehow couldn’t even manage that action, she was so entranced by his stare.
“I really wouldn’t mind, so long as you’re a good girl,” he said teasingly.
She crossed her arms over her chest and arched an eyebrow. “So, um, if I’m not a good girl, what happens then? Will I be taken out back to the woodshed?” Her face flamed at her own words, but she couldn’t resist the tease.
“You can bet your pretty little bottom you will,” he replied smoothly, his eyes darkening to almost black.
“Uh, you really have a woodshed?”
“I do, and I also have a forest full of trees with slim branches perfect for cutting switches.”
“Well then, I shall endeavor to be on my best behavior.”
He encroached on her space, looming over her in the cab. She didn’t retreat, but she did squirm under his gaze. He reached out and tipped her chin up. “And I shall endeavor to keep a very close eye on you, little girl.”

Featuring
five brand-new books by five excellent authors, What the Doctor
Ordered contains over five-hundred Kindle pages worth of hot doctors,
naughty patients, thorough examinations, and sound spankings. This
collection includes:
The Doctor and the Naughty Girl, by Trent Evans
Dr. Dane McKendrick is tired of his twenty-four-year-old receptionist, Amity Derrington, failing to take her job seriously. Amity is beautiful and smart, but the rich, spoiled girl clearly needs a firm hand, and when she shows up late for work and hung over yet again, Dane lets her know that from now on her behavior will have consequences. It isn’t long before Amity puts Dane’s warning to the test, and she soon ends up over his knee for a long, hard, bare-bottom spanking. Worse still, when Dane learns the extent to which she has neglected her annual check-ups, Amity quickly finds herself receiving the most intimate, embarrassing exam of her life.
The Right Treatment, by Tara Finnegan
Things have changed quite a bit in the years since Aoife Devine last saw Matt McDaid, her childhood crush. Working as a doctor on the emergency ward has hardened him, and parties, alcohol, and one-night-stands have taken their toll on her. But when a bad batch of ecstasy sends Aoife to the hospital, she finds herself with no choice but to accept Matt’s help, even if that means obeying his rules. Matt proves fully prepared to back up his orders with a sound spanking, and Aoife soon learns that cooperating with his treatments is not optional, no matter how humiliating they may be for her.
Amy’s Strict Doctor, by Natasha Knight
When Amy’s husband, Dr. Cade Hollister, convinces her to take the last class she needs to finish her college degree, she has no idea what is in store for her. Amy has never challenged herself in the past, and when she fakes an illness to avoid the hard work required to pass the course, Cade decides it is time to teach her a much-needed lesson. Before she knows it, her strict husband is taking her temperature the old-fashioned way, and that is just the start. Cade soon demonstrates that he is more than ready to give his wife the discipline she needs, even if it leaves her cheeks blushing as red as her well-spanked bottom.
Her Old-Fashioned Doctor, by Sue Lyndon
After she catches her fiancĂ© cheating on her, Melissa packs a suitcase and sets out on a road trip to give herself some time to recover. But things take an unexpected turn when she rear-ends Dr. John Holden’s truck in a tiny rural town and he responds by inviting her for an impromptu dinner date. The handsome medic’s charm and take-charge manner—not to mention his willingness to spank her bare bottom if he feels it necessary—all combine to set Melissa’s heart beating faster than it has in a long time. But is her rapidly growing crush on John merely a rebound fling, or can his hold on her heart last forever?
The Doctor’s Wife, by Casey McKay
Christina knew when she married Dr. Dan Connolly that it would be the best decision of her life, but as the years have passed and work and everyday concerns have piled up, their passion has begun to cool. But when Christina becomes so busy and stressed that she stops eating properly, Dan realizes he must step in to ensure that his wife starts taking care of herself again. Dan makes it clear that things need to change, and Christina soon learns that defying the man who is both her doctor and her head of household will earn her a trip over his knee for a bare-bottom spanking.

Her Exam and the Rectal Thermometer~ Sat Spanks, What the Doctor Ordered
I missed Saturday Spankings last week. Sometimes I have a problem remembering what day of the week it is! I apologize, but since the last time we have spoken the new box set I am a part of hit the virtual e-reader shelves. What the Doctor Ordered is on sale now and if you purchase it will get books from not just myself, but also: Trent Evans, Tara Finnegan, Natasha Knight, and Sue Lyndon!
I have a little tempting teaser from my book The Doctor's Wife. Christina has stopped by to see her surgeon husband, Dan, at the hospital. He has taken it upon himself to insist on an exam during their kinky rendezvous.
"Alright,
then," he said, picking up the tube of petroleum jelly and the
rectal thermometer. He didn't bother with the gloves this time.
Stepping back to the end of the table where she was still bent over
the edge, her torso stretched across the top, and her arms raised
above her head, he brought his hand down to the cleft in her ass. She
widened her legs at his touch and he smiled at her compliance, using
his thumb and index finger of one hand, he spread her pale cheeks and
placed some of the petroleum jelly on her puckered hole. The lube was
merely a formality; the head of the thermometer so small she would
probably barely feel it. This was more about the process, he liked
preparing her for any intrusion he was making, knew it took her to
another level: the embarrassment, maybe the shame that she liked it,
the humiliation of being completely at his mercy.
She
let out a moan as he rubbed in the jelly, and then he slid the tip of
the thermometer into her.
Drying his hands, he turned back and felt a jolt of lust shoot
through him as he looked at her naked buttocks, the thermometer
peeking out from between her full cheeks.

Let's Talk About Oral- LOL Day!
Welcome, LOL Day-ers! We do Love Our Lurkers, don't we? I know I do! Thanks to Hermione for heading this whole thing up! So today is about showing appreciation for all the lurkers, because we all started as one, right? Well I know I did.
If you are reading this and you are one of these unnamed people that floats in and out of blog land hopping from post to post, reading and connecting, but never commenting- know that you are completely welcome to keep doing that- there is no judgement here. But if you do want to leave a comment, we love that too! Sometimes, as a blogger, you start to feel like you're talking to yourself.
Anyway, I have a random- What's Going On in Casey's Head post for you today!
The other day Mr. McKay and I were texting about dinner (because really, that is the inevitable question- What's for dinner?)
He had it all figured out- which is not the only reason I am married to him, but it sure is a perk! I added to our meal completeness with having baked a cake the night before, so not only did we have a meal- we also had dessert! Hooray! It was one of those things where everything came together and it just made me smile (yes, I realize I am only talking about dinner here, but a girl's gotta eat!).
Moving along, I followed up my joyousness with a reply to my husband: Blow jobs for everyone!
He was rightfully confused, as you don't call oral sex on a woman a blow job. I was meaning we are so adult and awesome in planning our nighttime meal that we should reward each other with some oral sex. But I guess the way I put it meant there would be various men receiving blow jobs in our home. Which, hey, might be a nice night for some- but I am a one man kinda girl.
We began discussing this during our well planned and thought out meal. And I proposed that girls could have blow jobs too. Yes, why not just call it a blow job for a girl too? People still know what you mean!
Mr. McKay: Because that isn't what it's called.
Me: Then what is it called?
Mr. McKay: Not that.
Me (batting eyes seductively): Come on, don't you want to give me a blow job?
He recoils in horror: No, I don't. Stop saying it.
Me: Okay, how about some oral copulation?
Mr. McK: You really know how to kill something, don't you?
So yes, I know we can describe giving oral sex to a female as "going down on her" which I prefer so much more than "eating her out" which sounds vulgar even to my ears.
But really, besides oral sex or cunnilingus (which really, who says that?)- there isn't anything fun and sexy to call it.
I think it needs a new name, I say we start something here!
I also think blow job is a terrible term as well, but it is way better than "eating out"- who thought these up?
So do me a favor, think up a better term for these oral sex acts and post them in the comments. Come on lurkers! De-lurk for one day and help the good of the people! I need some new, sexy terms to use in my next novella ;)

"Let the Good Doctor Take Care of You"~ New Medical BDSM Box Set! Buy Now!
It's here! Available for purchase, 5 books for 1 low price! What the Doctor Ordered is a medical BDSM/spanking romance box set by Natasha Knight, Trent Evans, Tara Finnegan, Sue Lyndon and yours truly!
Here's a little taste of what you can expect from my story, The Doctor's Wife:
She
stared at him as she heeded his command and lay back against the
padded table, that was covered in a paper sheet.
He
steadied her with a hand on her shoulder as she scooted up the table,
bringing her legs to rest on top with the rest of her body. Once she
was completely on the table he aided her in flipping onto her stomach
without falling off the edge. The gown fell open leaving her entire
back and ass exposed. He took an appreciative look before he moved to
the counter to collect what he needed.
She
turned her head to the side to look at him, "What are you going
to do?"
He
didn't answer, just gave her a grin.
She
rolled her eyes in response and he couldn't resist giving her ass an
open handed smack. She let out a short squeal, but he ignored her and
moved to her other side.
Snapping
on latex gloves, and making a show of it, he snapped the wrist with a
bit of flare. She looked back at him and twisted her mouth, trying to
hide the amusement on her face.
He
picked up a tube of petroleum jelly and squeezed a quarter size
amount onto his index finger.
"What
are you doing?" Christina, having remained silent through most
of this, spoke up.
"I
need to take your temperature," he told her, getting more joy
out of her answering groan than he should have.
"Dan-"
she started and squeaked in protest when he slapped her thigh with
his free hand. "Dr. Connolly," she said with an exaggerated
emphasis, "you don't need to take my temperature."
"Oh,
but I do," he told her, and gave her an evil grin.
"Fine,
do it this way," she said, and opened her mouth.
"Don't
worry, that will be filled soon enough," he said, and winked at
her again, barely containing his chuckle at his own joke. Moving down
the table, Christina crossed her legs and squeezed her thighs
together, tensing up her cheeks as he approached. He held his finger
up with the lube on it, and caressed down the back of one of her
thighs with his gloved hand. "Just relax and open to me."
She
gave a mewl of protest and hid her face against the table, "I
don't want to."
"Really?"
he asked and lifted his eyebrows.
She
blew out a breath, and uncrossed her legs, but her body remained
tense and she kept her face hidden against the table.
"Just
relax, and let the good doctor take care of you," he suggested
in soothing tone.

"You're Under Your Doctor's Care Now"~ WIP it Up Medical Play
Welcome back for another Wip It Up Wednesday hosted by the fabulous Melody Parks! Today I have an excerpt from my novella The Doctor's Wife which will be in the box set What The Doctor Ordered, along with stories from Natasha Knight, Tara Finnegan, Trent Evans and Sue Lyndon, this Friday, November 7th!!
Christina has dropped by to see Dan at the hospital after he got called into emergency surgery. She was looking for a late night tryst, but he seems to be taking things a little further than she intended...
"Should
we be in here?" she asked as he hustled her into one of the exam
rooms.
He
flipped on the overhead fluorescent lights and closed the door behind
them. "It's not open to the general public, but my key card
worked, so it doesn't mean I
can't
be in here," he told her.
She
raised her eyebrows at him and he sensed another protest bubbling up.
Grasping her shoulder, he turned her around and placed a sharp smack
on the seat of her jeans. "No more questions, you're under your
doctor's care now," he ordered. "I'll need you to remove
your clothing and get into a gown, I'll be right back." He
didn't wait to see if she complied with his commands as he exited the
little exam room in search of supplies. If she didn't listen all the
more fun for him. He liked when she willingly submitted, but he
didn't mind persuading her either.
He
flicked the lights on in a neighboring exam room and grabbed what he
needed, making a mental note to put everything back where he found
it. Walking back into the exam room where Christina was ready and
waiting for him, he found her standing in a mint green, paper gown.
She looked unsure and slightly annoyed.
He
tossed the medical paraphernalia onto the counter and stalked toward
her. Bending down, he captured her mouth in a hard kiss, wiping the
annoyance from her face. He grasped her ass in his hands; her bare
cheeks peeking out of the slit in the crisp gown. Never disconnecting
their kiss, he hoisted her up, crushing her against him and carried
her to the table.
"Now
are you going to be a good girl, or do I have to start you off with a
spanking?" he asked her.
The
corner of her lips quirked up and she narrowed her eyes, "Do you
want me to be a good girl? I've never been a very good patient,"
she answered.

I'm Still Learning Things...
I realized this past weekend that I did not post one post between Saturday Spankings. That's a little odd for me, did you guys miss me?
You don't have to answer that!
Anyway, it is a new month. November is here, and I am not quite sure how that happened- I was still waiting for one more beach day after Labor Day hit. Now I am ready to turn the heat on in the house!
I feel like I learned a lot of new things this past month. Maybe not so new, maybe some things just dawned on me and I was all- oh, right, time to pay attention!
1. I am allowed to say "No".- This is mostly about not stretching myself so thin. I don't have to be everything for everybody and I feel like I can say no without being a bitch. Most of the time at least. Sometimes I am still feeling a little guilty, but there are only so many hours in the day!
2. I need sleep to function.- Crazy, right? Why had I not figured this out before? I wake up extra early in the morning so I can write before going to my day job. I started to realize if I went to bed too late, and then got up super early- I couldn't function. I was getting nothing done, plus I was cranky, overwhelmed, and just tired! I've been more conscious about getting more sleep and I have been a much happier person.
3. Getting your fingers run over is no fun.- So this might not apply to most of the population, but I am sporting a pinky that is three different shades of purple because I didn't tuck my fingers in when I took a spill on the roller derby track this past week. All I can think is, thank god I didn't break any fingers! It would be hard to type with broken digits.
4. I am more productive without the internet.- I took some vacation days at the beginning of the month and me and Mr. McKay were staying at a hotel without internet access. I wrote half a book in three days! Just in the mornings before he woke up. I think it was because I wasn't distracted. No email, no facebook, nothing shiny drawing me away. It's just an observation, I'm not actually doing anything with this little factoid I discovered.
5. Theodore Roosevelt would have been medicated if he grew up in present day.- So this is not a fact about myself, but it is still something I learned. We have been watching the Ken Burns' documentary on the Roosevelts and it is way more interesting than I anticipated. Teddy Roosevelt was a crazy man, I mean, for reals. He was a crazy kid, who definitely would have ended up medicated and in therapy if it were present day. But back then they were just like- hey! play a sport, go kill some bears! And then he became president.
That was fun, right? Maybe I will make this a monthly occurrence- Things I Learned This Month.
Probably not, as I am terrible at starting any kind of series, but this was fun at least.

What the Doctor Ordered- A Full Exam? Saturday Spankings
I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! I had a great time handing out candy to the three trick or treaters we got. I had tacos, a few beers, and wore my black cat panties for the occasion! It was a full night!
So I have an announcement- I will be releasing a book in an upcoming box set with some other fabulous authors. Natasha Knight, Sue Lyndon, Trent Evans, and Tara Finnegan let me sit at the cool kid's table, for whatever reason, and they agreed to let me be a part of this sexy five-some of awesomeness.
The box set is titled What the Doctor Ordered and it will be available at the end of the week.
Today I have a snippet from my book- tenatively titled The Doctor's Wife.
"Dan," she protested, through laughter that she couldn't hold back.
"Dr.
Connolly," he reminded, giving her a censuring look of
mock-sternness.
It
seemed to snap her back to attention because her laughter ceased,
"Dr. Connolly," she repeated, and blinked back at him.
"Did
you have something else to add?" he asked.
"No,
sir," she answered, biting her lip and sticking her chest out as
she linked her hands behind her back again.
It
had been a long time, but it was a familiar dance between the two of
them. One he had been craving for a while. "Then, let's move
this along, I think we need a full exam."
"A
full exam?" she asked, and looked back at him with wide eyes. That is all I have for now! I'm sure I will be inundating you with links and such when the box set is up and ready to go!
For now, stop in on all the other Saturday Spankers!
